Laura Nadel joins Psynergy as Quality Improvement Director

Laura Nadel

Laura Nadel, who has worked in mental health since 1999, has joined Psynergy Programs as Quality Improvement Director for all of the Psynergy on-site clinics.  Nadel formerly worked in locked settings, as clinical director of the 7th Avenue Center in Santa Cruz, and then in Santa Cruz County mental health as a senior mental health rehabilitation specialist, pioneering a position that supports moving clients out of locked levels of care back into the community.   Most recently, she worked as Program Director at a Crisis Stabilization Program at Telecare. In these roles, Nadel was responsible for referring numerous clients to Psynergy’s facilities.

At Psynergy, Nadel oversees the quality of clinic documentation, ensuring that it meets all standards, guidelines and best practices for outpatient clinics.

“The main factor responsible for my joining Psynergy was that I felt that the ethics and philosophy of Psynergy align with my own,” says Nadel.  “They strive to give the best quality product to the most deserving people.  My past experiences with Psynergy showed that they give top shelf service to the people that the rest of the mental health system doesn’t afford it to.”

Nadel audits clinic records and systems, looking for patterns that may be concerning.  When that happens, she brings about change either through a policy meeting to update and revise policy, or through training. As an example, the company recently implemented a reform in medical documentation known as Cal-AIMS, which promotes succinct documentation to describe the services that clients are billed for.  The training helps personnel create a purposeful and distinct note that is understandable to all.

Since joining Psynergy, Nadel has forged a great collaboration with her new colleagues.

“So far, I’ve gotten to work with a group of really compassionate and brilliant minds,” she says. “The company as a whole has been hugely supportive and welcoming, and I am happy to be part of the team.”

When she’s not working, Nadel enjoys attending live music events at nearby venues, and spending time with her six cats.
